Kuwaiti police shoot Saudi man in stand-off




Kuwaiti police have reportedly shot dead a Saudi man who was holding family members hostage.

The Interior Ministry said the 30-year-old had taken drugs when he held several relatives at gun point and stabbed his uncle with a knife,Kuwait Times reported.

He allegedly shot at police with a machinegun when they arrived at the scene in Taima, injuring two officers.

Special forces were called in for reinforcement and after a standoff with the man they broke into the house, where shots were exchanged and the Saudi man was killed.



One of the police officers was shot three times in the shoulder, while another was hit in the thigh, the Interior Ministry said. Both were in a stable condition.

Police said the man had a number of weapons including a hunting rifle, a machinegun and ammunition.
