Batelco, the Bahraini telecommunications company, said on Sunday it has opened its first drive-thru shop in the Gulf kingdom.
The new shop, which is open from 9am to 10pm, seven days a week, is located at Salmabad Petrol Station near the AMA University.
The shop provides passing motorists with a wide range of Batelco’s products and services including broadband, mobile services and devices and fixed lines.
Batelco Group CEO and acting Bahrain CEO Alan Whelan said he was proud of Batelco’s achievement in being first to open a drive thru shop for its customers.
“We continuously seek to provide the best telecom experiences for our customers and believe that the addition of a drive thru shop in this area, which has a large residential population as well as a thriving university campus, will be a great benefit for our customers,” he said.
Besides the new location in Salmabad, Batelco has 19 other retail outlets across the kingdom.
Batelco said it also has a mobile van, complete with a full range of Batelco’s products and services onboard.
In July, Batelco posted a 22.4 percent drop in second-quarter profit, according to Reuters calculations.
The former monopoly, which had reported declining profits in 16 of the previous 19 quarters, made a net profit of BD10.4 million ($27.6 million) in the three months to June 30, down from BD13.4 million in the year-earlier period.
