Universal Pictures has released a new trailer for the forthcoming seventh instalment of the Fast and Furious film series, showcasing more clips from scenes filmed in Abu Dhabi earlier last year.
The filming of the movie, which has been named Furious 7, took place in the emirate in April 2014, with the Abu Dhabi desert and Emirates Palace featured in key scenes.
The movie stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Jason Statham, aswell as the last appearance by Paul Walker, who was killed in a car crash in California in November 2013 before production was completed.
"This is a great opportunity to not only generate international exposure for Abu Dhabi, but to also provide young Emiratis with work experience, which could help them to become the region's future filmmakers," Noura Al Kaabi, chief executive of Abu Dhabi’s movie production unit twofour54, said while the crew were filming in the emirate.
Furious 7 is scheduled for release in April 3, 2015 and is aiming to follow in the footsteps of the previous film, which was released in May 2013, and made $238,679,850 worldwide.
So far, the six previous Fast and Furious movies in the series have grossed $937.8 million worldwide.
