The Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation, chaired by the Saudi billionaire businessman, has donated SR1.5 million ($399,829) to alleviate the suffering of nearly 46,000 children and families living in harsh weather conditions in Syria.
In light of massive snowstorms in Syria, the Foundation - with the assistance of strategic partners Nulabi Al-Nidaa, Food Banking Regional Network and Save The Children - will provide food, medicine and clothing for families residing in the refugee camps as well as providing crisis medical services to control any spread of diseases and epidemics.
This initiative is a response to the Alexa snowstorm, which continues to bring freezing temperatures, fierce winds, rain and snow to the Middle East.
Refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan have been badly affected, with hundreds of refugees struggling to stay warm and dry in their tents and children are dying facing a harsh winter.
Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, the Syrian Refugee’s Support Initiative at Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation has donated over SR5 million through strategic partnerships with effective global rapid aid organisations.
Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation - Global has extended a helping hand and executed programmes in 90 countries around the world.
The Foundation has five main focus areas - Intercultural Initiative and Interfaith Dialogue, Community Development, Women’s Empowerment, Youth Enablement and Poverty Alleviation.
