"Structurally, men's and women's skins are very much alike, so facial treatments are beneficial to both. Men too like women, should have the impurities in their skin removed," said Hamad Aly, manager of the posh Zayna Spa, recently inaugurated at the Millennium Resort in Musannah.

Offering customised treatments to suit different needs, one could opt for a 'Deep pore cleansing facial' - a firming and purifying treatment which steams, exfoliates and deeply cleanses clogged pores, followed by a gentle facial, and a neck and shoulder massage, in a 60-minute intense session.
"The facial includes conditioning that can prevent wrinkling and can smooth surface irritations caused by shaving. Massage of the face, neck and shoulders offers a fresh approach to easing tension and relaxing nerves," said Hamad, adding special masks were available for all skin types ranging from sensitive, dry, oily or acne-prone skin to aid brightening and correct pigmentation.
An excellent treatment for smokers, sunbathers and sun-damaged skin, is the 'Luminous C & Sea facial'. A highly repairing treatment for dull and dehydrated skin, the facial combines the high potency of vitamin C with a stimulating freeze-dried seaweed, rendering skin firmer, brighter, more rejuvenated, and velvety-soft.
The elixir of youth is a perfect option for mature skin. "Especially formulated for people above 40 who want maximum results, this treatment combats skin ageing, restores elasticity and leaves the skin radiant, hydrated and youthful," noted Hamad.
Hamad added most men may need to schedule a series of facial treatments to see optimal results, as their skin has been exposed to the harmful environment for long without regular treatment, reversing the effects of which may take some time.
"After the treatment, men should also ask their therapist about special skin-care products that are formulated to treat the particular skin concerns affecting them and any skin-care regimens that they can follow on their own at home."
