Muscat: There has been a mixed reaction to Apple's latest mobile operating system iOS 8 Apple's in Oman.
Users in Oman termed iOS 8 as "incredible", "amazing" and "disappointing".
Kishor C said, possibly one of the best thing about iOS 8 is the photos app
"It has some incredible editing tools. There is a whole lot of things you can do with colour, brightness, contrast, exposure, highlights, shadows, skin tones if you are INTERESTED in photography," he said.
Alden Escolano who upgraded iPhone5s phone as soon as iOS 8 was launched described it as amazing.
"I love the gray scale screen. My office mate and I played a song and Siri did not fail to tell us the title of the song. Also, when I double tapped the home button, my favorite contacts appeared on the top of the screen. Lastly, I noticed INTERNET also fast. I have begun to enjoy my phone," he said.
Rejmin Abdulkader termed the latest mobile operating system as "disappointing."
"Firstly it was herculean task to download iOS 8 simply because it requires over 4GB space on your phone. I was disappointed that I had to delete many of my pictures and videos to upgrade it," he said.
Craig Federighi, Apple's senior vice president of Software Engineering said, "We're excited for hundreds of millions of users to begin experiencing iOS 8, with incredible features that offer new ways to use your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch," said.
"iOS 8 also creates an extraordinary ENVIRONMENT for developers, providing them the ability to create amazing new apps like never before," he said.
Kishor added that iOS 8 delivers a simpler, faster and greater user experience with the new update.
He also added that it is great that you can also choose to share your current location from within messages.
Sachin Purshottam Mamnani complained off "battery life that has gone from bad to worse" after updating iOS 8.
Praveen D bemoaned that he had to delete archives of pictures of important family events.
"While there are many great features, I am sad that I had to delete personal photographs", he said.
iOS 8 is available as a free software update starting Wednesday, September 17 for iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPod touch 5th generation, iPad 2, iPad with Retina® display, iPad Air™, iPad mini™ and iPad mini with Retina display.
"In October, SMS Continuity will be available as a free update to iOS 8 and iCloud Photo Library will be available as a beta," Apple officials informed.
