The Dubai World TRADE Centre on Tuesday announced extended metro timings on Friday to facilitate the large volume of visitors expected to attend the final weekend of GITEX Shopper 2014.
In collaboration with Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the metro will run from 10am to midnight on the day, adding an additional four hours to the service which usually does not start until 2pm.
The region’s largest consumer IT and electronics retail show has already seen thousands of visitors walk through the doors since it opened on Saturday.
Trixie LohMirmand, senior vice president, Dubai World TRADECentre (DWTC), organiser of GITEX Shopper said: “We would like to thank the RTA for increasing metro hours on Friday. As more and more people are visiting GIITEX Shopper every year, Dubai Metro continues to provide visitors with a nice and easy journey as an alternative to driving.”
The show includes over 100 retailers including Emax, E-City, Jacky’s, Jumbo Electronics, Plug Ins and Sharaf DG offering over 30,000 products.
GITEX Shopper 2014 runs until October 4 and is open from 11am to 11pm every day. Tickets are priced at AED30 per person and are available at the venue and at select Emarat outlets. Entry is free for children below the age of five.
